First migratory observantion
Today Esben and I did the first migration counting of the season at Verdens Ende3, we were with Knud who gave us very nice advice about sea bird identification. We started at thelight of the day at 7.00 am, we were lucky with a pretty good weather and even some sunshine around 10 o’clock. We saw many see bird species like Guillemot, Razorbill, Goosander, Long-tail duck, kittiwake, Velvet Scoter, Red throated diver, we also get some raptor with a young White-tail eagle and five Buzzards who attended to path the but did return. There was not only bird today but also some harbor porpoise and seals out in the sea who was very calm. We also get the visit of Jørgen with his dog Igor than after 4 hour of observation we get back to the light house to have lunch.
During the mean time this morning, Simon was doing a guided tour with school children from Aalborg, he introduces them to the bird ringing and bird observation and they get the chance to see two birds very closely; a great tit that Simon ringed and a blue tit already ringed. This class will come several times through the season to learn more about the work of the bird observatory and general knowledge about birds.
During the afternoon our main activity was to take care of some stuff that needed to be fix in the apartment to be ready for the season and we check the bike to be sure each of them are ready to be used for the season which comes!
Ringing (Fyrhaven):
