Easter Fun Day!
søndag 20. april 2025
Glædelig påske to everyone!
The day started slowly today. Due to the rain, we were able to sleep in, which was really nice. We began the day with a very delicious pancake breakfast made by Cora and Tue. After the rain stopped, Cora and I went for a short walk to Grenen. However, it seemed like all the birds had already had their Easter breakfast too, because there was not much to see. Our walk was soon interrupted by Simon, who texted us that the "Easter fun" was about to begin. So we headed back quickly and curiously to the Station. Back at the Station we met Simon, Lisa, and the other volunteers and we started blowing eggs, which was a bit difficult for some of us, but in the end, everyone did it pretty well! Then we painted the eggs with some nice bird species, a few of us have drawn species that they would like to see here in Skagen or in general. We were all very focused while painting.

Simon (a.k.a. the Easter Fish) used the eggs to cook a very tasty omelette. Then, Cora went out with her family to show them around the area. Meanwhile, Tue, Rasmus, Andrew, Lucas and I went on an Easter egg hunt in the garden, searching for the eggs hidden by the Easter Fish. After the egg hunt, we woted the best Easter egg design from those we had drawn ourselves. Tue won the vote with his beautiful yellow bittern egg, a well deserved victory!

It was such a lovely event! Many thanks to Simon and Lisa for the organization! After that awesome event, we relaxed a bit at the station until we decided to go on a short birding trip and check the football field in town. That was a good decision, we found a female Ring Ouzel (Ringdrossel) and at least 65 resting White Wagtails (Hvid Vipstjert). In the evening, we welcomed our new guests, Hans and Birte, and had dinner together.
That’s how Easter went at Skagen Bird Observatory, let’s see what the next few days will bring!
