Wandering around Skagen
Hi folks! :)
I hope you had a great weekend!
As you know, ringing officially stopped on the 20th, so no ringing this morning. Instead, Jonas planned on going on a sound-listening walk which Taïma and Frank wanted to attend. Jonas woke up at 4 am, and Frank came out a bit later to go to the bathroom. They had a chat about when Jonas would leave, and Frank decided to go back to bed. Turns out he did not remember a thing about the conversation and was sleepwalking! :P
Jonas ended up leaving on his own and had about 13 Marsh Warblers - Kærsanger, lots of Chiffchaff - Gransanger singing as well as Common Whitethroats - Tornsanger, and some Reed Warbler - Rørsanger and Icterine Warblers - Gulbug.
I woke up at 6 am and went out to take pictures. I wanted to find a deer to photograph before going next week, so I walked towards Batteriskoven where Jonas was, on his way back to the station. He messaged me that there were a deer and her fawn closer to the lighthouse, so I went back. I ended up sitting on the heath, surrounded by three deers, when I finally saw the mom and the young one. I got some videos! We don't see the fawn much as I was down in the grass not to spook them away.
Taïma and Frank woke up around 9 am, Jonas was taking a nap and I sorted my pictures after that.
Our guests, Jesper and Anne, went for a walk to Sandmilen and sat on the beach and ate some nice cake. They then went to town to buy some drinking glasses for their friends and went shopping for tomorrow evening as they will be kindly cooking for all of us. :)
Jonas shaved today and now, as he says himself, somehow looks 14 yo and 40 yo at the same time.
In the afternoon, we volunteers went to the harbour to try and find the Bonaparte's Gull - Bonaparte Måge, without success. We did see a Black Guillemot - Tejst though, which was Frank's second and Taïma's first. We then went to Flagbakken and stopped at a bakery on the way to get some nice cake to eat there.
We went on a walk to Den Tilsandede Kirke which was very nice and then headed back. Frank made us a lovely dinner with homemade Focaccia.
We will now be watching Inglorious Basterds and go to bed not too late as we will be ringing tomorrow! We will just open later.
Have a great evening :D
