Ringing is coming... :)
Hi folks! :)
Our day started with a lovely breakfast before getting ready for our exciting day. Simon got up as we left for Grenen to meet up with Knud. About a minute before we got to him, he called to say he had two Shags in view. Jonas ran as fast as he could and managed to see them just in time. Anders Oesterby, Dorte H. Jensen, Oluf Lou, and Finn Augo Soerensen, joined us shortly after. Migration was slower for seabirds, as land birds were more active. We had the opportunity to see a Red Kite, two Sparrowhawks, 3 257 Jackdaws (!), and 17 Redpolls.
After a nice leftover lunch, Simon took us to the ringing area, Kabeltrommelkrattet. As it is Jonas's first ringing season and I haven't set up nets in two years, Simon helped us set the first net up, and showed us the other nets' location for us to set. We managed to do two more and are both super excited to start ringing!
While Jonas and I were busy with nets, Simon picked up the recorder we put out last night, and we will soon know if an Eagle-owl is in Råbjerg!
Anders and Dorte made us some delicious goulache for dinner, we talked about typical danish food and we are now getting ready for bed.
