A shit load of shags!
Hi folks!
This is my first post and I am so glad to share my first day with you all.
Jonas and I started the day by having some nice breakfast before getting ready to go to Grenen for our daily observations. Simon woke up and we exchanged a few words before heading out to meet with Knud. We walked along the south shore, where we had a great view of the changing colours in the sky as the sun was about to rise.
As we joined Knud, 35 Snow Buntings landed by us. I got familiar with the many birds migrating through the area, such as Velvet Scoter, Eider, Black Guillemot and Whooper Swan, which were all new to me. Simon, Anders and Dorte joined us about two hours in and while Anders and Dorte continued their walk towards the north shore, Simon spotted a flock of 14 shags flying towards us, accompanied by a cormorant! This is now the biggest flock of shags observered for Skagen. Shortly after that, another flock of 7 shags followed, making it 21 shags for our daily observations.
Knud took some pictures of the shags we saw.
Simon went to meet Annelise Jensen to collect two Puffins that she found dead on the north beach. Thank you for that :)
Late afternoon, we went to Råbjerg to put a recorder out to register an Eagle-Owl. We then went to Råbjerg Sø to observe waterfowl, where we got to see 4 Cranes and 3 Bewick's Swans.
We ended the day by some nice carbonader cooked by Jonas and I, had some nice conversations and some fun, and as always, prepared for the next day.
